WEEK 4 COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING TIPSHEET
Thursday, September 24
LIBERTY AT COASTAL CAROLINA — 7:30 ET
Line: Liberty -2.5 | Total: 52.5
- Liberty is 2-1 after breaking out for 51 points against Ball State. Coastal Carolina is 1-2, but both losses were more competitive than the records suggest: the Chanticleers outgained West Virginia 425-413 in a 31-24 loss and produced 385 yards at Delaware before a muffed punt created the decisive short field.
- Coastal quarterback Deuce Bailey has thrown for 826 yards and eight touchdowns without an interception. He passed for 250 yards and two scores at Delaware, while Coastal’s defense allowed only 93 rushing yards and 3.0 yards per carry.
- Coastal is 2-1 ATS with a +4.3 average cover margin; Liberty is 1-2 ATS at -2.3. Both teams are 1-2 to the Under, with Coastal games finishing 7.2 points below the total on average. The Luck Gap is a modest 0.6 toward Coastal.
- This is a rivalry renewal, a nationally televised Teal Out and a high-urgency home game for a Coastal team trying to avoid 1-3. Afternoon storms are possible, but the current evening forecast does not show 15-mph wind.
Friday, September 25
ARMY AT TEMPLE — 4:00 ET
Line: Army -3 | Total: 48.5
- Army has played only two games, so its 1-1 ATS mark is less informative than the matchup. Temple is 2-1 ATS and has exceeded the spread by 11.8 points per game, one of the stronger early margins on the board.
- Army’s option creates a short-week preparation problem, particularly for a Temple defense moving from conventional offenses to assignment football. Army’s limited passing volume makes game state important: Temple covering is much more realistic if it avoids falling behind by multiple scores.
- No major confirmed quarterback change has surfaced. Monitor Temple’s defensive front and linebacker availability because injuries there carry more weight against Army than a typical opponent.
NAVY AT UAB — 7:00 ET
Line: Navy -7 | Total: 51.5
- Navy is 0-2 ATS and has missed the number by 9.0 points per game. UAB is 1-1-1 ATS with a +1.0 average cover margin, so neither profile supports laying a full touchdown without further personnel confirmation.
- UAB’s games have averaged 5.8 points below the total. Navy’s style can shorten the game, but the Midshipmen can also create explosive plays when defenders lose leverage.
- This is UAB’s second consecutive assignment-based rushing matchup if its recent schedule forced extra preparation stress; defensive substitutions and tackling depth matter more than raw yardage averages.
NORTHWESTERN AT INDIANA — 8:00 ET
Line: Indiana -21 | Total: 49.5
- Indiana is 3-0 straight up but 0-3 ATS, missing the spread by four points per game. The market has continued to price the Hoosiers as an elite team even though bettors have yet to cash an Indiana ticket.
- Northwestern has played only two games and carries a small positive Luck Rating, while Indiana’s Luck Rating is essentially neutral. There is no meaningful regression edge large enough to justify the number by itself.
- Indiana’s Josh Hoover-led offense owns the higher ceiling, but a three-touchdown spread demands four quarters of aggression. Northwestern’s clearest path is shortening the game and preventing Indiana from generating short fields.
CLEMSON AT CALIFORNIA — 10:30 ET
Line: Clemson -1.5 | Total: 50.5
- Clemson and California are both 2-1, but each is 1-2 ATS. Clemson has missed the spread by 10.0 points per game; Cal has missed by 9.3. This is a matchup of two teams the market has overrated through three games.
- Clemson makes the cross-country trip for a Friday-night kickoff. The body-clock factor is modest because the game begins at 7:30 Pacific, but the travel still compresses preparation and recovery.
- Cal has the better Luck Rating by only 0.1, effectively no edge. Clemson’s talent advantage is real, but its offensive inconsistency makes laying points on the road less comfortable than the team names suggest.
Saturday, September 26 — Noon Window
TEXAS AT TENNESSEE — 12:00 ET
Line: Texas -5.5 | Total: 55.5
- Texas and Tennessee are both 3-0, but neither has rewarded spread bettors consistently: each is 1-2 ATS. Texas has still exceeded its lines by 5.2 points per game, compared with Tennessee’s +1.2.
- Tennessee has the slightly better Luck Rating, but the 0.4 difference is not significant. The more important question is whether Tennessee can keep Arch Manning from attacking favorable matchups after the Volunteers commit resources to the run.
- Texas has a natural emotional test going from early-season showcase games into an SEC road environment. Tennessee has the crowd and urgency, while Texas owns the greater margin for error on both lines of scrimmage.
ILLINOIS AT OHIO STATE — 12:00 ET
Line: Ohio State -27.5 | Total: 53.5
- Ohio State is 3-0 ATS after a 59-3 win over Kent State. Illinois is 0-3 ATS and all three Illinois games have gone Over.
- The Buckeyes’ 24-23 loss to Texas is their only straight-up defeat, but they have covered every number. Illinois has consistently been priced above its actual performance.
- The concern at -27.5 is late-game margin preservation once Ohio State controls the game. Illinois needs offensive efficiency early because a one-dimensional comeback script exposes it to Ohio State’s pass rush.
SAM HOUSTON AT TEXAS TECH — 12:00 ET
Line: Texas Tech -34.5 | Total: 54.5
- Sam Houston’s opening loss to Troy was deceptive: the Bearkats outgained Troy 373-342 but lost 24-21, with the turnover differential deciding the game.
- Texas Tech is 3-0 straight up but 0-3 ATS, missing the spread by 13.8 points per game. The Red Raiders have been dominant enough to win while remaining badly overpriced.
- Sam Houston is only 1-2 ATS, so the dog has not reliably exploited its own undervaluation. A number above five touchdowns is primarily a question of Texas Tech’s willingness to press after the game is secure.
WAKE FOREST AT LOUISVILLE — 12:00 ET
Line: Louisville -12.5 | Total: 58.5
- Wake Forest is 2-1 and Louisville 2-1. Wake is 1-2 ATS but has a slightly positive cover margin; Louisville has been closer to market expectation.
- Louisville quarterback Lincoln Kienholz has driven the Cardinals’ explosive start and has moved into the Heisman discussion. Wake’s best counter is sustaining possessions and keeping Louisville from accumulating tempo-driven snaps.
- Wake’s games are 2-1 Over by an average of 7.8 points. The total is already elevated, so personnel news in the secondaries matters more than the raw O/U record.
COLORADO AT BAYLOR — 12:00 ET
Line: Baylor -10 | Total: 55.5
- Baylor’s 17-16 loss to Auburn was misleading. The Bears outgained Auburn 436-389 and won the turnover battle 3-2, but special-teams failures determined the result.
- Colorado is 1-2 ATS and has missed the spread by 10.2 points per game. Baylor is also 1-2 ATS, so this is not a clean market-performance matchup.
- Baylor’s Luck Rating is 0.7 lower than Colorado’s, creating a meaningful early edge toward Baylor. The Bears’ statistical profile is better than their record, but laying double digits requires cleaner special teams.
VIRGINIA TECH AT BOSTON COLLEGE — 12:00 ET
Line: Virginia Tech -14 | Total: 48.5
- Boston College’s 34-15 loss to Cincinnati was deceptive: BC outgained Cincinnati 388-339 but lost the turnover battle 2-0 and repeatedly failed in the red zone.
- Boston College is 1-2 ATS with a -13.0 cover margin and 0-3 to the Under, finishing 7.8 points below the total per game. The offense has moved the ball better than its scoring suggests, but execution has been poor.
- Virginia Tech must avoid pricing BC solely by the final scores. The Eagles have a plausible backdoor path if their yardage finally turns into touchdowns.
SAN DIEGO STATE AT TOLEDO — 12:00 ET
Line: Toledo -3 | Total: 51.5
- San Diego State is 0-3 ATS and has missed by 8.5 points per game. Toledo is 1-1-1 ATS with a +4.7 margin, giving the Rockets the clearer market-performance edge.
- San Diego State’s Luck Rating is 0.5 lower than Toledo’s, only modestly favoring the Aztecs. That regression support is not enough to erase the offensive concerns.
- Travel and an early Eastern kickoff work against San Diego State. Toledo’s task is protecting the football and forcing the Aztecs to sustain long passing drives.
COLORADO STATE AT UTSA — 12:00 ET
Line: UTSA -13.5 | Total: 58.5
- Colorado State is 2-1 ATS with an outstanding +11.2 cover margin. UTSA is 1-2 ATS, but the Roadrunners’ raw talent and home dome remain meaningful.
- UTSA carries a 0.3 better Luck Rating, so the regression numbers do not support the underdog. Colorado State’s early ATS success is supporting evidence rather than a reason to ignore the matchup.
- UTSA games have finished 9.8 points below the total on average. The high total requires Colorado State to contribute, making its offensive-line and quarterback availability essential late-week checks.
UNLV AT AKRON — 12:00 ET
Line: UNLV -13.5 | Total: 52.5
- UNLV is 1-2 ATS and has missed by 13 points per game. Akron is also struggling against the market, leaving little trustworthy ATS support for either side.
- UNLV is 0-3 to the Over, with its games landing 14.8 points below the total. That is a strong early Under margin, though the opponent change matters.
- Akron’s offense must prove it can exploit UNLV’s travel and early kickoff. If Akron cannot create short fields, UNLV has the defensive profile to keep the total below market expectation.
BALL STATE AT KENT STATE — 12:00 ET
Line: Kent State -3.5 | Total: 50.5
- Ball State just allowed 51 points at Liberty; Kent State lost 59-3 at Ohio State. Both teams enter after blowouts, reducing any obvious emotional edge.
- Ball State is 1-2 ATS at -4.5; Kent State is 1-2 ATS at -5.0. The market has evaluated both poorly but almost equally.
- Kent State owns the slightly better Luck Rating. With two unstable offenses, turnovers and field position are more predictive than either team’s season scoring average.
SOUTH ALABAMA AT KENTUCKY — 12:45 ET
Line: Kentucky -20.5 | Total: 54.5
- Kentucky improved to 2-1 by beating Texas A&M 31-21, a result enhanced by the Aggies losing returner/receiver Terry Bussey on the opening kickoff.
- South Alabama is 2-1 ATS with a +5.3 cover margin. Kentucky’s Luck Rating is 0.4 higher, a small edge toward the underdog rather than the favorite.
- The spot asks Kentucky to refocus after an SEC win against a Group of Five opponent. South Alabama’s path is limiting explosive plays and keeping Kentucky engaged for four quarters.
UCLA AT MARYLAND — 1:30 ET
Line: UCLA -1.5 | Total: 57.5
- UCLA’s 45-24 win over Cal was somewhat flattering: the Bruins outgained Cal only 461-410 but benefited from a 3-1 turnover advantage.
- Maryland is 2-1 ATS with a +7.5 cover margin. UCLA is also 2-1 ATS and has played Over by 11.8 points per game, one of the strongest total margins on the slate.
- UCLA has a 0.8 Luck Rating advantage over Maryland, creating a full one-game Luck Gap toward Maryland. That is one of the week’s more meaningful early regression differences.
NOTRE DAME AT PURDUE — 2:00 ET
Line: Notre Dame -27.5 | Total: 57.5
- Notre Dame is 3-0 but only 1-2 ATS. Purdue is 1-2 ATS after an overtime loss in which its pass coverage failed on multiple critical downs.
- Purdue has shifted to more 3-3-5 structure and has defended the run better, but secondary depth remains a concern. Cornerback depth has been stressed, and that is dangerous against CJ Carr and Notre Dame’s receivers.
- Notre Dame’s Luck Rating is 0.6 better, creating a 0.6 edge toward Purdue. The Irish have the talent to separate, but the number demands sustained scoring after control is established.
NORTHERN ILLINOIS AT GEORGIA STATE — 2:00 ET
Line: Georgia State -10 | Total: 56.5
- Northern Illinois is 0-3 straight up and 1-2 ATS with a neutral cover margin despite being outscored heavily. Georgia State is 2-1 ATS and has exceeded totals by 8.8 points per game.
- Georgia State’s Luck Rating is 0.9 higher, creating substantial regression support toward Northern Illinois.
- NIU’s offense must improve enough to exploit that edge. Georgia State’s pace and scoring environment make a backdoor cover possible even if the Panthers lead throughout.
HAWAI’I AT WYOMING — 3:00 ET
Line: Hawai’i -3 | Total: 45.5
- This is the week’s clearest weather watch. Early forecasts project sustained wind around 16 mph in Laramie, above the threshold where passing and kicking efficiency deserve a downgrade.
- Wyoming is 0-3 ATS and has missed the spread by 16.8 points per game. Hawai’i is 1-2 ATS at -5.2, so neither has been dependable.
- Both teams are 1-2 to the Over, and their games have landed roughly five points below the total. Altitude, wind and a low total all point toward a possession-by-possession game.
Saturday, September 26 — Midafternoon
OKLAHOMA AT GEORGIA — 3:30 ET
Line: Georgia -13.5 | Total: 43.5
- Oklahoma is 2-1 but 0-3 to the Over, with its games finishing 14.2 points below the total. Georgia’s defensive profile explains the very low market number.
- Oklahoma’s Luck Rating is 0.4 below Georgia’s, creating a modest regression edge toward the Sooners. The Sooners must protect John Mateer because negative plays will make a two-touchdown spread difficult to cover.
- Georgia has the physical advantage, but a total of 43.5 magnifies every point. If the game stays Under, Oklahoma has greater mathematical value catching 13.5 than in a higher-scoring environment.
OLE MISS AT FLORIDA — 3:30 ET
Line: Florida -3 | Total: 60.5
- Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy is uncertain with a left shoulder injury. He has 191 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 39 carries. JT Lindsey had only four carries for 20 yards after Lacy left the LSU game.
- Trinidad Chambliss led Ole Miss past LSU 32-24 and has moved to the front of the Heisman race. Florida is 3-0 and owns the home-field edge in a matchup priced as nearly even on a neutral field.
- Ole Miss has a 0.5 Luck Rating edge over Florida, producing a 0.5 regression lean toward the Gators. Lacy’s status materially affects red-zone efficiency and Florida’s ability to devote extra defenders to Chambliss.
UTAH AT IOWA STATE — 3:30 ET
Line: Utah -7.5 | Total: 48.5
- Utah is 3-0; Iowa State is 2-1. Both are 1-2 to the Over, and the total reflects two teams comfortable winning through defense and field position.
- Iowa State owns a 0.3 Luck Rating disadvantage, creating a modest regression edge toward the Cyclones. Utah crossing the key touchdown threshold is the central market issue.
- Utah’s physical defense travels, but Ames can create a difficult possession game. Iowa State must avoid falling behind early because its preferred pace is poorly suited to chasing multiple scores.
IOWA AT MICHIGAN — 3:30 ET
Line: Michigan -5.5 | Total: 38.5
- Iowa has officially named Hank Brown its starting quarterback. Nathan McNeil is listed first at running back, while Karmari Moulton, DJ Vonnahme and Brevin Doll remain absent from the depth chart.
- Right tackle Bryce Hawthorne remains listed first despite leaving the previous game with a knee injury. His mobility and availability matter against Michigan’s front.
- Iowa safety Tyler Brown is absent, with Anthony Hawkins again listed as the starter. Michigan’s 0.5 Luck Rating advantage creates a 0.5 regression edge toward Iowa.
- At 38.5, field position and turnovers are magnified. Iowa’s quarterback change creates upside but also raises the probability of a short-field mistake.
TCU AT UCF — 3:30 ET
Line: TCU -3 | Total: 48.5
- TCU is 2-1 but owns a -0.6 Luck Rating, while UCF is -0.2. That produces a 0.4 edge toward TCU rather than a classic underdog regression case.
- TCU games have finished 8.5 points below the total. UCF’s defensive and quarterback continuity should be checked late in the week because both teams have shown uneven offensive stretches.
- The Bounce House remains a meaningful home environment. TCU must handle heat, tempo and crowd noise while laying a field goal on the road.
BOISE STATE AT WESTERN MICHIGAN — 3:30 ET
Line: Boise State -7 | Total: 48.5
- Boise State’s 34-27 loss at Oregon was deceptive in the other direction: Oregon outgained Boise 497-274, but turnovers, failed fourth downs and officiating helped keep it close.
- Western Michigan is 1-1 ATS but has exceeded the spread by 12.5 points per game. Boise’s Luck Rating is 0.1 compared with Western’s 0.2, essentially even.
- Boise has the talent advantage, but its Oregon result should not be treated as proof it played the Ducks evenly. Western Michigan’s ability to stop the run determines whether the game remains within one score.
UCONN AT MIAMI (OH) — 3:30 ET
Line: Miami (OH) -3.5 | Total: 51.5
- UConn is 2-1 ATS with a +13.2 cover margin, among the nation’s best early marks. Miami (OH) is 1-2 and has not produced a comparable market edge.
- UConn’s Luck Rating is 0.2 better, creating a 0.2 regression lean toward Miami. That small number should not outweigh UConn’s strong performance against expectations.
- The hook above three matters in what projects as a competitive game. Turnovers and special teams are likely to determine whether Miami can create separation.
NEW MEXICO AT NEW MEXICO STATE — 3:30 ET
Line: New Mexico -11.5 | Total: 48.5
- New Mexico State is 2-1 ATS with a +6.5 cover margin. New Mexico is 1-2 straight up and has been closer to market expectation.
- New Mexico’s Luck Rating is 0.3 better, producing a 0.3 regression lean toward New Mexico State. The rivalry setting increases the underdog’s emotional case.
- New Mexico State’s offensive consistency is the concern. Catching double digits helps, but repeated three-and-outs can hand New Mexico enough possessions to pull away.
HOUSTON AT GEORGIA SOUTHERN — 4:00 ET
Line: Houston -18.5 | Total: 56.5
- Houston is 2-1 ATS with a +5.7 cover margin. Georgia Southern is also 2-1 ATS, but its games have finished 13.2 points below the total.
- Houston’s Luck Rating is 0.8 worse than Georgia Southern’s, creating a meaningful regression edge toward the favorite despite the large spread.
- Houston’s defense and rushing game travel well. Georgia Southern needs explosive passes because sustained drives against Houston are unlikely to produce enough scoring at normal efficiency.
VANDERBILT AT AUBURN — 4:15 ET
Line: Auburn -9.5 | Total: 54.5
- Vanderbilt is 3-0 but has a +0.7 Luck Rating, while Auburn is essentially neutral. That creates a sizable 0.7 regression edge toward Auburn.
- Auburn’s 17-16 win over Baylor was fortunate relative to the box score. Baylor outgained Auburn 436-389 and won the turnover battle, with special teams deciding the result.
- Both teams are 1-2 ATS. Vanderbilt’s unbeaten record and Auburn’s misleading win create competing perception issues; neither record should be accepted at face value.
WISCONSIN AT PENN STATE — 5:00 ET
Line: Penn State -9.5 | Total: 44.5
- Wisconsin’s 41-13 loss was deceptive: the Badgers were outgained only 350-284, but a 2-0 turnover deficit and poor second-half game management produced a lopsided score.
- Penn State is 3-0, while Wisconsin is 2-1. Both are 1-2 to the Over, supporting the low total.
- Penn State’s Luck Rating is 0.1 compared with Wisconsin at 0.0, effectively no regression advantage. Wisconsin’s ability to avoid negative passing downs determines whether the game stays inside double digits.
NEBRASKA AT MICHIGAN STATE — 5:00 ET
Line: Nebraska -5.5 | Total: 48.5
- Nebraska’s roster is unusually experienced: roughly 72% of the team is upperclassmen, and quarterback Anthony Colandrea brings 33 games of experience.
- Michigan State games have finished 6.8 points below the total. Nebraska’s experience should reduce road pre-snap errors, but laying nearly a touchdown in a Big Ten road game remains demanding.
- Michigan State’s Luck Rating is 0.3 compared with Nebraska’s 0.1, producing a small regression edge toward Nebraska.
SOUTH FLORIDA AT BOWLING GREEN — 5:00 ET
Line: South Florida -17.5 | Total: 48.5
- South Florida is 3-0 with a +0.8 Luck Rating. Bowling Green is 0-3 with a -0.5 rating, creating a massive 1.3 Luck Gap toward Bowling Green.
- Bowling Green is also 0-3 ATS and has missed by 17.7 points per game. The Luck Gap says regression; the on-field and market results say the Falcons have not been competitive enough.
- South Florida must avoid a flat spot after a strong start. Bowling Green needs improved quarterback play before its regression case can be trusted.
DELAWARE AT VIRGINIA — 6:00 ET
Line: Virginia -19.5 | Total: 52.5
- Delaware beat Coastal Carolina 22-14, but the final margin was aided by a muffed punt that created an immediate 36-yard touchdown. Coastal still produced 385 yards and reached the Delaware 13 with a chance to tie.
- Virginia is 2-1 ATS with a +3.3 cover margin. Delaware is 1-2 ATS and has played 7.2 points below the total.
- Virginia owns a 0.6 Luck Rating edge over Delaware, creating a significant regression case toward the underdog. The Cavaliers must create their own separation rather than rely on another opponent’s special-teams error.
JAMES MADISON AT OLD DOMINION — 6:00 ET
Line: James Madison -6 | Total: 44.5
- James Madison’s 20-13 win over Liberty was misleading: Liberty outgained JMU 321-291, but 12 penalties repeatedly killed Flames possessions.
- JMU is 3-0 but carries a +0.4 Luck Rating. Old Dominion is 1-2 with a -0.5 rating, creating a large 0.9 Luck Gap toward ODU.
- Old Dominion games have finished 1.8 points below the total. The Monarchs’ regression case and home field are meaningful in a game lined below one touchdown.
CENTRAL MICHIGAN AT MIAMI — 6:30 ET
Line: Miami -41.5 | Total: 53.5
- Miami quarterback Darian Mensah has thrown himself into the Heisman lead, and receiver Malachi Toney is one of the country’s most explosive weapons.
- Central Michigan is 1-2 ATS with a -6.3 cover margin and 0-3 to the Over, finishing 11.5 points below the total. Miami is 2-1 ATS with a +6.2 cover margin.
- The only real spread question is how long Miami uses its starters and whether the reserves preserve margin. Central Michigan’s offensive limitations make a backdoor difficult without turnovers.
LOUISIANA AT CHARLOTTE — 6:30 ET
Line: Louisiana -10 | Total: 48.5
- Charlotte is 2-1 ATS despite a negative scoring margin and has a -0.8 Luck Rating. Louisiana is 2-1 with a +0.2 rating, creating a full one-game Luck Gap toward Charlotte.
- Charlotte games have finished 6.8 points above the total, while Louisiana has been closer to expectation.
- Louisiana owns the steadier program profile, but the Luck Gap warns against assuming the records describe the true distance between the teams.
Saturday, September 26 — Prime Time
SOUTH CAROLINA AT ALABAMA — 7:00 ET
Line: Alabama -12.5 | Total: 54.5
- South Carolina is 2-1 after losing 41-34 to Mississippi State. The Gamecocks’ defensive problem was containing quarterback Kamario Taylor, not an inability to score.
- Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell has supplied dual-threat production and moved into the Heisman discussion. Alabama is 3-0, while South Carolina’s Luck Rating of -0.5 creates a 0.8 edge toward the Gamecocks.
- South Carolina is 1-2 ATS but still owns a positive cover margin. Alabama’s ability to contain LaNorris Sellers outside structure is the matchup that decides whether the favorite separates.
KANSAS STATE AT CINCINNATI — 7:00 ET
Line: Kansas State -6.5 | Total: 55.5
- Cincinnati is 2-1 ATS with a +7.8 cover margin. Kansas State is 3-0 but has been closer to market expectation.
- Cincinnati’s 34-15 win over Boston College flattered the Bearcats: BC outgained Cincinnati 388-339, while turnovers and red-zone failures determined the final margin.
- Kansas State has the better Luck Rating by 0.2, creating a small regression edge toward Cincinnati. The Bearcats’ record is credible, but their most visible win was not as dominant as the score.
OKLAHOMA STATE AT WEST VIRGINIA — 7:00 ET
Line: West Virginia -1.5 | Total: 59.5
- West Virginia’s 31-24 win over Coastal Carolina was deceptive because Coastal outgained the Mountaineers 425-413. Turnovers and Coastal’s slow start were decisive.
- West Virginia owns a +0.7 Luck Rating compared with Oklahoma State at +0.1, creating a meaningful 0.6 Luck Gap toward Oklahoma State.
- Both teams are 2-1, but West Virginia’s record has more regression risk. Oklahoma State’s ability to protect its quarterback in Morgantown is the central personnel matchup.
SOUTHERN MISS AT TULANE — 7:00 ET
Line: Tulane -18.5 | Total: 51.5
- Southern Miss and Tulane are each 1-2 ATS. Tulane games have finished 8.8 points below the total, despite a 2-1 Over record generated by where the numbers were set.
- Tulane’s Luck Rating is 0.2 better, creating only a small regression lean toward Southern Miss.
- Tulane has the deeper roster, but laying nearly three touchdowns requires offensive efficiency. Southern Miss needs to avoid early turnovers that allow Tulane to play downhill.
KENNESAW STATE AT ARKANSAS STATE — 7:00 ET
Line: Arkansas State -5.5 | Total: 52.5
- Both teams are 2-1 ATS. Kennesaw State has a +2.0 cover margin; Arkansas State is nearly neutral.
- Kennesaw carries a -0.4 Luck Rating compared with Arkansas State at -0.3, creating almost no regression edge.
- This is one of the board’s more evenly matched games. Arkansas State’s home field and passing ceiling justify favoritism, but the line leaves room for Kennesaw’s option and clock control.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE AT JACKSONVILLE STATE — 7:00 ET
Line: Jacksonville State -7 | Total: 51.5
- Middle Tennessee is 0-3 to the Over, with games finishing 2.8 points below the total. Jacksonville State is 2-2 and has been nearly neutral against the market.
- Jacksonville State has a -0.2 Luck Rating versus Middle Tennessee at +0.2, producing a 0.4 regression edge toward the favorite.
- The touchdown is the key market threshold. Middle Tennessee must prove it can stop the run without overcommitting safeties.
TEXAS A&M AT LSU — 7:30 ET
Line: LSU -8.5 | Total: 52.5
- Texas A&M receiver and returner Terry Bussey is out for the season with a lower-body injury. He had seven catches for 92 yards and handled both kickoff and punt-return duties. Starting receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman was already sidelined, increasing the burden on the remaining receivers.
- LSU defensive back Dashawn Spears is out for the season with a knee injury. He had moved from safety into the star position, so LSU loses both coverage versatility and experience against Marcel Reed.
- LSU is 2-1 but carries a -0.5 Luck Rating; Texas A&M is -0.6. There is essentially no Luck Gap.
- Texas A&M must replace Bussey’s offensive snaps and return-game value on the road at night. LSU is also coming off an emotional 32-24 loss at Ole Miss and must avoid carrying that defeat into another ranked matchup.
OREGON AT USC — 7:30 ET
Line: Oregon -3 | Total: 62.5
- Oregon’s 34-27 win over Boise State was far more dominant statistically than the score: the Ducks outgained Boise 497-274 but went 0-for-3 on fourth down and failed to convert that superiority into margin.
- USC is 4-0 but only 1-3 ATS, missing the spread by 7.4 points per game. Oregon is 1-2 ATS and has missed by 8.5, so both brands have been overpriced.
- Oregon’s -0.7 Luck Rating versus USC’s +0.3 creates a massive one-game Luck Gap toward Oregon. That is one of the strongest regression differentials on the board.
ARIZONA AT WASHINGTON STATE — 7:30 ET
Line: Arizona -10 | Total: 47.5
- Arizona is 0-3 ATS with a -6.5 cover margin. Washington State is 2-1 ATS and has been nearly neutral in scoring margin.
- Arizona’s Luck Rating is -0.1 compared with Washington State at -0.3, producing a small regression edge toward the home underdog.
- Washington State games have finished 7.2 points below the total. Arizona must create explosive offense to justify laying double digits in Pullman.
TROY AT UTAH STATE — 7:30 ET
Line: Utah State -3 | Total: 48.5
- Troy’s 24-21 win over Sam Houston was deceptive because the Trojans were outgained 373-342 and benefited from the turnover differential.
- Both teams are 0-3 to the Over. Utah State games have finished 20.5 points below the total, while Troy games are 4.8 points below.
- Troy owns a +0.3 Luck Rating compared with Utah State at -0.9, creating a massive 1.2 Luck Gap toward Utah State. That is one of the week’s strongest regression cases.
APP STATE AT NC STATE — 7:30 ET
Line: NC State -14 | Total: 55.5
- App State is 3-0 with a +0.7 Luck Rating. NC State is 1-2 with a -0.8 rating, producing the week’s largest listed Luck Gap: 1.5 games toward NC State.
- App State is 2-1 ATS with a +9.7 cover margin, so the market-performance evidence conflicts with the Luck Gap.
- NC State games have finished 9.8 points above the total. The Wolfpack’s urgency at 1-2 and statistical regression case are strong, but laying two touchdowns requires defensive improvement.
MISSOURI AT MISSISSIPPI STATE — 7:45 ET
Line: Mississippi State -6.5 | Total: 58.5
- Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor has thrown 11 touchdowns against one interception and led a 41-34 comeback win at South Carolina. His emergence has materially changed the Bulldogs’ offensive ceiling.
- Missouri’s 27-17 win over Troy was unconvincing, and the Tigers are 1-2 ATS with a -6.3 cover margin. Mississippi State is 3-0 with a +0.8 Luck Rating.
- Missouri’s +0.4 Luck Rating creates a 0.4 regression edge toward the Tigers. The market has moved Mississippi State from an opening favorite around 3.5 to 6.5, so late bettors are paying a much steeper price.
TULSA AT ARKANSAS — 8:00 ET
Line: Arkansas -7 | Total: 51.5
- Tulsa quarterback Baylor Hayes suffered a knee sprain against Sam Houston but was expected to return for Arkansas. If he cannot go, seventh-year senior Dexter Williams II has 1,219 career passing yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions, plus 360 rushing yards.
- Tulsa is 3-0 with the highest Luck Rating in the country at +1.0. Arkansas is 1-2 with a neutral rating, creating a full one-game Luck Gap toward Arkansas.
- Arkansas is 0-3 ATS and has missed by 15.5 points per game. Tulsa’s record is regression-vulnerable, but Arkansas has not justified laying a touchdown without improved execution.
FLORIDA ATLANTIC AT UL MONROE — 8:00 ET
Line: Florida Atlantic -13.5 | Total: 57.5
- Florida Atlantic is 2-1 ATS despite a negative scoring margin. UL Monroe is 1-2 ATS and has missed by 9.8 points per game.
- FAU carries a +0.9 Luck Rating compared with UL Monroe at -0.9, creating an enormous 1.8 Luck Gap toward UL Monroe—the largest on the board.
- UL Monroe must still demonstrate enough offensive competence to exploit it. FAU’s fortunate record and large road price make this a high-variance matchup.
MISSOURI STATE AT SMU — 9:00 ET
Line: SMU -34.5 | Total: 59.5
- Missouri State is 1-2 ATS with a +1.2 cover margin. SMU is 1-1-1 ATS and has been closer to market expectation.
- Missouri State’s -0.3 Luck Rating versus SMU at +0.1 creates a 0.4 regression edge toward the underdog.
- SMU should control both lines, but the spread is a fourth-quarter depth-chart wager. Missouri State’s ability to score against reserves will determine the cover.
OREGON STATE AT UTEP — 9:00 ET
Line: Oregon State -10.5 | Total: 54.5
- Oregon State and UTEP are both 1-2. Oregon State’s Luck Rating is -0.2, UTEP’s +0.1, creating a small edge toward the favorite.
- UTEP is 1-2 ATS but has a +1.5 cover margin; Oregon State has not created a strong market signal.
- The Beavers’ road travel and UTEP’s home setting narrow the talent gap. Oregon State must avoid giving UTEP short fields in a game where laying double digits is otherwise difficult.
UMASS AT SACRAMENTO STATE — 9:00 ET
Line: UMass -4.5 | Total: 48.5
- UMass is 3-0 with a +1.0 Luck Rating, tied for the nation’s highest. Sacramento State is 1-3 with a -0.5 rating, producing a 1.5 Luck Gap toward Sacramento State.
- UMass is 2-1 ATS with a +13.5 cover margin, so the on-field market results conflict sharply with the regression numbers.
- Sacramento State has played four games and has more recent competitive reps, but it must improve defensively to exploit UMass’s regression risk.
RICE AT FRESNO STATE — 10:00 ET
Line: Fresno State -13.5 | Total: 44.5
- Rice is 1-2 ATS; Fresno State is 2-1 straight up but has not produced a strong cover profile.
- Both teams are 1-2 to the Over and have finished roughly four to five points below their totals. The market already reflects that with a 44.5.
- Rice’s -0.2 Luck Rating compared with Fresno at +0.1 creates a 0.3 regression lean toward Rice. At a low total, 13.5 points carry added value.
GEORGIA TECH AT STANFORD — 10:30 ET
Line: Georgia Tech -3.5 | Total: 48.5
- Georgia Tech is 0-3 ATS with a -7.2 cover margin. Stanford is 1-2 ATS with a -9.2 margin, so both have disappointed the market.
- Georgia Tech’s Luck Rating is -0.8 compared with Stanford at +0.2, creating a full one-game Luck Gap toward Georgia Tech.
- The Yellow Jackets’ cross-country travel is the primary situational concern. Stanford’s offense must prove it can sustain drives rather than rely on travel fatigue alone.
AIR FORCE AT NEVADA — 10:30 ET
Line: Air Force -5.5 | Total: 49.5
- Air Force has played only two games and is 1-1 ATS. Nevada is 1-2 ATS but has exceeded the spread by 5.8 points per game.
- Air Force’s Luck Rating is -0.3 compared with Nevada at -0.7, creating a 0.4 regression edge toward Nevada.
- Nevada has a full week to prepare for the option. Defensive eye discipline and tackling are more important than season-long yardage rankings in this matchup.
MINNESOTA AT WASHINGTON — 11:00 ET
Line: Washington -10 | Total: 46.5
- Washington is 0-3 ATS and has missed the spread by 15.5 points per game. Minnesota is 2-1 with a -0.3 Luck Rating; Washington is +0.3, creating a 0.6 Luck Gap toward Minnesota.
- Washington games have finished 12.5 points below the total. Minnesota games are 3.5 points above, creating a genuine style conflict.
- Minnesota’s travel is significant, but the late Eastern start reduces the body-clock disadvantage. Washington must show it can win by margin before laying double digits becomes comfortable.
