I am taking the points with Miami against Virginia. This is set up to be a great game and the Hurricanes match up very well them here. Virginia won the h2h earlier by 3 at home, making this a great revenge spot for the Canes. Miami is rolling right now with wins in 4 of the L5 and 8 of the L10 powered by a strong offense, thats posted at least a 114+ offensive rating in 5 of the L6 overall. The offensive firepower comes from being aggressive in the paint with the ACC”s #1 FTR and 3rd best shooting percentage from midrange, where the Cavaliers have had struggles at time this season. Virginia has had glaring issues on defense as of late with a 111.4 defensive rating over the L4 games. They are are not getting anywhere near enough second chances on the glass or off turnovers which will prove difficult against a hot Miami offense. On the defensive side, the Canes have had their shortcomings however a majority of games down the stretch for them were Q1-A and that difficult SOS will pay dividends here. Miami HC Jai Lucas was snubbed for ACC COY, and his team has a massive chip on their shoulder for that reason. Play the points with Miami here. —Joey Tron
I am laying this spread with Arizona against Iowa State in the Big 12 Semi Finals. Arizona rolled Iowa State in Tucson not too long ago and nothing makes me think differently about a similar scenario here. Arizona defense is dialed in with a sub 90 defensive rating in 3 of their L4 games and have held foes to 80 or less in 5 straight. Iowa State trounced both of their opponents in the opening rounds (ASU, TT) but face a much more challenging foe. The Cyclones have struggled in the paint on both ends of the floor all season and will not find this match up easy. The Wildcats have some serious height and are ranked #1 in the Big 12 In offensive 2PT% and OR% which will give them plenty of second chance looks. Not only that, but Arizona is 1st in both offensive/defensive FTR% which will be imperative down the stretch if this one is close late. Arizona out rebounded ISU in their first match up by 7 and have the Big 12 Player of the Year on the court in Jaden Bradley who will be difficult to contain once he gets going.
